Cooking With Herbs

Last weekend some of my girlfriends and I went to Fire Lake Camp for a Cooking With Herbs class.

It was a lot of fun.  Plus we got to tour the place and it was so pretty and quiet!  This is a families actual residence but they host dinners, picnics, and classes throughout the year.

Bottle Tree
Kayaks, bikes, hammocks, lounge chairs, picnic tables, and hanging lanterns.  Does this sound like the place to be or what?

The farm home is beautiful, open, and inviting.  It had a lot of neat architectural details that you don't see in most homes these days.  Like exposed beams and a spiral staircase.

We learned about growing herbs, what herbs go best with what food, and different ways to use excess herbs (in oils, butters, and flour).

The Class
Lunch was yummy!  Three flavors of chicken salad, pasta salad, fruit salad with a cinnamon basil syrup, and a biscuit with herb butter.  We all got to take home herb cookies and that little violet plant sitting on the table.

I highly recommend this place.  Check their website for details on upcoming harvest dinners and classes.
