2 Years

It's our 2 year anniversary!

Ahh, I just can't help but smile when I look at these pictures.  It was such an incredible day.

We had a wonderful anniversary.  We stayed at a hotel in downtown KC, went to a movie in the "cinema suites", had a late night gourmet dessert, and finally breakfast in bed!!

I got flowers today at work.  The card read, "For the best wife any man can hope for."  AWWWW!

To celebrate my sisters new job I took her to a new Greek Restaurant in our area.

My Big Fat Greek Restaurant!

Good food, fire breathing, music, and dancing.  We left STUFFED!

Tybee Island

Ok, I got a little lazy, back to the Savannah posts!

One day of our trip we went to Tybee Island. It's about a 20 minute drive from Historic Savannah.

Our first stop was the lighthouse. It was build in 1773 and is one of the most in tact light stations in the US. It was 178 steps to the top and boy was it HOT!

View from the top.

There were 3 inn keeper cottages on the property that we toured.

Across the street was Fort Screven. It was built in 1898 and served as America's coastal defense system until 1945.

Then finally we made it to the beach for the afternoon.

Wine & Cheese Party + Winery Tasting

I hosted my monthly party today, a wine and cheese theme.

We visited the Stone Pillar Winery. They had a great selection and I ended up purchasing 2 wines. We also learned about the history and wine making process.

Menu
Variety of cheese, crackers & breads
Hummus
Olives
Nuts
Fresh Fruits
Dark Chocolate
Wine!

Party favors! Wine stoppers and cheese spreaders.

I'm bummed to say I'm taking a little break from the party planning. I'll probably try quarterly parties from here on out. Stay tuned!

Homes Of Savannah

Savannah has beautiful historic homes. Many have been turned into B&B's and museums. Here are a few I captured during our trip. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to tour the insides.

Mongolia House

Mercer House. You may recognize it from the movie "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil."

Andrew Low House

Rainbow Row

"Haint Blue" House. It is believed this color warded of evil spirits. It also, unknowingly, helped keep away mosquitoes during the yellow fever pandemic (because it resembles water).

Owens-Thomas House

Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace (The Founder of the Girl Scouts)

Davenport House

Do you know why many historic homes have two staircases? It's because men were not allowed to see women's ankles. So women went up one side and men the other!
