The Sweetest Thing

This morning I was in a hurry to get to work. Even though I had already kissed Jonathan goodbye I yelled upstairs that I loved him as I was walking out the door, but I could hear a lot of noise upstairs and knew he had not heard me. So, I wrote "I love you" on a post-it and stuck it on the door for him to see when he left for work.

After an rough day at work and a little tired after going to the gym I returned home this evening and had forgotten all about the note I left until I found a post-it stuck on the door and it said, "me too."

What a huge smile I got out of that. This is one of the many reasons I love him so much. :)

Dads Day!

We had a nice afternoon today visiting my parents for Fathers Day. My mom always told me how much my dad wanted a girl and how happy he was when he found out I was a girl after I was delivered. She says that whenever they would visit family and friends he'd always say, "Give me Rachel" and have to be the one to carry me in. I don't think he will ever know how much he really means to me. We butted heads a lot growing up because we are both so stubborn. But looking back I am glad he was as hard on me as he was. He taught me responsibility, hard work, how to be strong, and never give up. Thanks Dad! Love Rach

Happy Father's Day!

"Hear, O sons, the instruction of a father, and give attention that you may gain understanding ..." (Proverbs 4:1)

Happy Birthday Best Sister!

It's hard to believe my baby sister Chels is turning 17. We've always had a close relationship. I am 13 years older and spent a lot of time taking care of her when she was younger. We enjoyed swimming, crafts, and shopping! When my mom would attend her school conferences all the teachers would say the same thing, that all Chels talked about was her older sister Rach! :) We still enjoy weekends together and she's still the only one who can out shop me. Happy Birthday Chels!
Love Rach.

Reality Check

Proverbs 16:9
"In your heart you plan your life, but the Lord decides where your steps will take you."

I came across this scripture on another blog today and wow did I need it. I am way too much of a planner and needed a reality check.

Silly Kidden

Some of you may know my most precious groovums passed away two months ago. This is how we ended up with our new kitten Maya. I call her my "kidden" because she's like a kid to me. She's a seal lynx point Siamese/Ragdoll mix and was around 6 months old when we adopted her from the shelter. She is such a blessing and has brought so much joy. It's so fun to watch her run, play, jump, and hunt. She loves chasing balls, belly rubs, watching birds, and how can you resist when she takes a nap in your lap. Maya can never replace Grooves but she sure has snuggled herself right into my heart. Even though Jonathan is not a pet person I know she's growing on him too.

My First Post Ever

I've been enjoying reading blogs by Donna and Kate so I thought I'd start documenting our adventures. I'm hoping this will be a good way to keep in touch with all my friends. With everyone busy with life it's hard to keep in touch.

For those of you wondering what "Sillyness Abounds" means, I chose it because my husband, Jonathan, reminds me everyday of how silly I am. In fact, he has started calling me the "avatar" of silly!

Anyway, thanks visiting my blog and hopefully you check in often!
