9 Months
Sleep: Luckily this category doesn’t change much month to month. You still go to bed between 6-6:30pm and get up between 6-6:30am. You still wake up in the middle of the night a couple times a week but it’s just a quick diaper change and bottle. When you get up from your nap you like to play with your crib piano. It’s also the cutest thing coming in and seeing you sitting in your crib. A few times you’ve gotten your leg stuck in the crib slats and Daddy, in his words, has had to “rescue” you. We got a new book this month called “Snuggle Puppy.” It’s a cute rhyming song and you like me to sing it to you during your bedtime routine. Overall you are a really good sleeper and rarely put up a fuss at nap or bedtime.
Feed: You are still taking about 28oz of formula a day plus a midmorning breakfast and dinner. We’ve been having fun with meals and you’ve tried a lot of new foods this month. We gave level 2 ½ and 3 foods a try. At first you were a little unsure of the bits of veggies and noodles. You are getting the hang of it though. You even were able to eat some diced pieces of ripe banana. We have a sippy cup of water but you will also drink right out of a cup (with help). We have offered puffs and wagon wheels to you but you seem to play with them more than eat them. They end up stuck all over you!
Weight: 18lb 13oz (50%)
Length: 28 inches (65%) Head Circumference 43.8cm (45%)
Diaper Size: Size 3 diaper. It is harder to change you these days and I have to distract you with toys or a game of peek-a-boo.
Clothes Size: We’ve moved on to 9-12 and 12 month clothes. Not only are you outgrowing clothes but you are about to outgrow your infant car seat in length. We got to use a new accessory this month, the sun hat. Good thing it has Velcro!
Hair Color: Dark brown and it’s getting pretty wavy in the back.
Eye color: Dark brown, we still don’t see your pupils very often.
Funniest moment: You learned to smack your lips and make a kiss sound. We were so amazed and laughed so much. We probably smacked our lips in your face for an hour trying to get you to do it over and over again. It’s adorable. Dad also plays a game with you in the mornings before daycare. He will put you in your car seat and then say, “Are you ready? 1..2..THREE” and he’ll spin (not too fast) in a circle. You have the BIGGEST smile on your face!!
Milestones: We had to baby proof this month. At the beginning of the month you were slithering around on your tummy but by the end of the month you were crawling up on your hands and knees. It is SO cute! You will also pull up on stuff to your knees and you can sit on your knees. Sometimes you get your foot under you but you haven’t quite learned how to push up on it yet. You like to try and crawl over things, pillows or us if we are lying on the floor. When you stand against something you stand on your tippy toes, so you are still working on your balance. You’ve also started to get stranger anxiety. I was wondering if this would happen because you were such a social butterfly. I’ve noticed when we go on play dates you like to keep me close by and if you don’t see me you start to fuss. Of course, your dad and I secretly feel special when this happens. You have 3 teeth now. You have learned to put up a fight when I have to wipe your runny nose! You are easier to take out now and you like to go grocery shopping with me. You’ve learned some new sounds, like “AHHH”, “Dada”, “bye”, and “YaYa”. You started clapping a couple months ago, but now you can make a “clap” sound with your hands.
Your favorite toys: We got a ball popper that you enjoy and you’ve started to interact more with your play house. You will open the windows, crawl through the door, and ring the doorbell. You pretty much like everything you are not supposed to touch! You can spot a remote, cord, cell phone, or magazine like a hawk. You love love love to go riding around the neighborhood in your car, we try to do that several times a week. You had fun in the baby squirt pool. You like dolls and this month got your first Cabbage Patch Baby. You have fun banging on pots and pans in the kitchen when I’m getting dinner ready. We have a walker and you like to sit in it and can move around a little bit on the tile floor (mostly pushing yourself backwards). You still like to jump so we will put you in the jumperoo sometimes.

I like the variety of food you've given her, I've been wondering what new foods I should try to give Chloe. We've had the stranger danger twice too (as you saw at play group). I hate it, I feel so bad when she cries like that. The morning game with daddy sounds fun. :)
